The Capital City Community Band is the primary instrumental musical ensemble serving the citizens of Frankfort, Kentucky.
The primary purpose of the Capital City Community Band is to enhance the quality of life of the citizenry for Frankfort through instrumental music while simultaneously providing an outlet for those with the abilities to perform wind band literature at the highest level possible. The band also strives to assist in the educational development of younger players while upholding the rich tradition of the community band.
The Capital City Community Band was formed in 1986 by avid amateur musicians and local band directors. Since its inception, among its membership the band has had student musicians, talented amateurs and trained professionals from Frankfort and surrounding communities.
The band was invited to perform at the 2007 Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference in Louisville, Ky. and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Convention in Chicago, Ill., during the same year. The band also commissioned and premiered the work "Gnomon" by composer Thomas Duffy in commemoration of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1995.
Why the CCCB Needs Business Partners
The Capital City Community Band is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization as established by the Internal Revenue Service. The band operates solely upon the contributions of patrons and sponsorships garnered through working relationships with the business community.
The band provides a complete concert schedule geared towards entertaining and educating the general populous of the Frankfort community. The concerts given by the Capital City Community Band range from educational, student-geared performances to performances directed toward expanding the current wind band library. While the organization operates with the primary intent of serving its community, it also strives to establish an identity in the international band world in order to further the role of the community based band in the fabric of modern society while also bringing positive attention to the City of Frankfort.
As with any volunteer arts organization, the band would not be able to maintain its presence in the community without the assistance of the corporate and private sectors through the donation of resources and capital funding.
Why the Business Community Needs the CCCB
Members of the business community rely upon the arts organizations within their community to promote the business' civic identity while also establishing the corporate brand within the arts clientele.
While most corporate organizations do not directly gain revenue from contributing to the capital funding of the arts, they do understand that their ability to prosper depends upon their civic presence in the community. The vitality and high quality of life of the citizens within a community provided by the arts makes them better consumers which in turn makes for profitable business.
The Capital City Community Band through its concerts and educational performances promotes the identity and brand of the corporate sponsorships to the thousands of citizens who attend its concerts each year.
The band can also assist the corporate sponsor by providing musical entertainment with one of the several small instrumental groups from within the band for corporate functions and dinners.
