Chris Conway Scholarship Awarded
The inaugural Chris Conway Memorial Music Scholarship was recently awarded to Western Hills graduate, Simon Holden, at the WHHS Spring Band Banquet. The scholarship honors the memory of one of the founders of the Capital City Community Band and the first drum major at Western Hills High School, Chris Conway, who passed in February of 2014. Pictured above are Simon Holden along with Cindy Howser, Chris' mother, and Karen Conway, Chris' wife. Simon, an oboist in the Western Hills band, will be pursuing a degree in music composition at the University of Louisville and will use the $1000 scholarship to purchase a baroque oboe to further his interest in Renaissance and Baroque music.
